New statutory board to drive SkillsFuture movement

Tenatively named SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), this new statutory board will take over some of the functions currently performed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) — which will be reconstituted into a new statutory board — and absorb the Council for Private Education (CPE), an existing statutory board under the MOE.
The WDA, as a new statutory board tentatively named Workforce Singapore (WSG), will be focused on jobs and ensuring enterprises can become manpower-lean while remaining competitive. It will come under the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
These changes involve a reorganisation within the Government rather than an increase in the number of statutory boards, said the MOE and MOM in a press release today (Jan 12).
“Notwithstanding the reorganisation, the SkillsFuture movement will continue to be a multi-agency effort within Government and involve all the tripartite partners,” they said.''
